We first came to polo on the pampas of Argentina where the vibes are chill, the polo is fast, and the ponies are amazing. Our approach to the sport blends that tradition with American organization and clarity in communication- focusing on horsemanship, smart play, and fairness. Come play with us!

WATCH: Spectators are FREE and welcome at all matches and practices.

PLAY: $85 per day, or $1,500 unlimited/ season. Players must have their own polo pony- seasonal leases can be arranged. All Open Practice Fees include coaching by our Argentine pro.

All practices and matches will be played on our small-size grass field or in the arena as the weather allows. Our full size grass field will open in spring 2027.

Beginners start with private riding & horsemanship lessons with Kate
Intermediate and up riders may join group sessions with our Argentine pro.

Targeted training to increase balance, core strength, and steadiness on horseback. Learn the basics of riding and polo strategy to become a safe and efficient player. Trained polo ponies and all polo equipment are provided. Just bring a helmet and boots!

JUNE 13 & SEPTEMBER 5

Spend a day dipping your toe into life on the polo farm. We’ll give you an overview of the sport and introduce you to the ponies and the equipment. You’ll get to learn to swing a mallet, ride a pony, and participate in a slow paced match. We end the day with a traditional Argentine asado (barbeque) No riding experience is required! Our calm, well trained ponies will take care of you. Great as a one-time bucket list experience, or as an intro to the sport.

COMING SOON If you can’t make it to Argentina to visit our pro at his estancia, soon you’ll be able to stay on-site here with us in Pennsylvania. You’ll have accommodations on the farm, meals with us, along with daily stick & ball, lessons, and chukkers.

CURRENTLY We offer our famous asados for hire, along with facility rentals for groups or families. Talk to us about your vision!

FACILITY

We are located 40 minutes north of Pittsburgh, in Kittanning Pennsylvania.
Our facility has a regulation size polo arena, ½ mile grass conditioning track, grass stick & ball field, as well as a clubhouse, separate staff housing, and turnout/ stabling for polo ponies.

NEW this year we have expanded to a second facility just minutes away where we have a small grass practice field ready for play. Our full size grass field is under construction and will be ready for the 2027 season.

Kate Dougherty

OWNER/ MANAGER

A lifelong Pittsburgher and former 3-Day Eventing rider, Kate founded Northpointe Polo in 2019, inspired by her time training in Argentina and soaking in the polo lifestyle there.
Kate holds a USPA Handicap of -.5 on grass and 1 in the arena. In Women’s, she is rated 1 on grass and 2 arena. She is rated 0 goals in Argentina. Professionally she is trained as an architect and currently works as a set designer for feature films and television.
Jill Leighton

GRASS FIELD MANAGER

Jill began playing with us in 2024 and quickly fell for the sport, traveling to Argentina that fall and bringing home a string of horses of her own and becoming an integral part of Northpointe.
Jill manages our NEW FOR 2026 grass facility. She holds a USPA handicap of -.5 on grass and 0 in the arena. In Women’s she is rated a 1 on grass and 1 arena.
Jerónimo Ruquet

POLO COACH & INSTRUCTOR
Jero is our 2 goal Polo Pro for the 2026 Season! He has his own polo school in Argentina where he specializes in producing quality polo players and top-notch ponies
He will be playing with us, coaching, and teaching lessons all season!
